Where to eat with your toddler in London

Many, many restaurants in London are child friendly and so are many of the pubs. You will find many pubs very busy with families at lunchtime enjoying a pub lunch, especially at the weekend and now the smoking ban is in place. Many of them have highchairs and facilites to change your baby so it’s worth just exploring and trying a few out.

You can’t go wrong with quite a few of the chain restaurants.
Cafe Rouge has been a favourite of ours. They seem to be everywhere in London and and we have dined at a few including the one in Canary Wharf and Greenwich since our toddler was a baby until the present day. There are always lots of highchairs and the staff are always welcoming to children. They also do a children’s menu. The good thing I find about Cafe Rouge is that somehow the atmosphere seems quite loud so that if your child decides to cry it gets soaked up with all the background noise.

Giraffe is a great family restaurant. I have been to the one on the Southbank in London and they really are great with kids. They had balloons, which of course my toddler loved. They also give out packs with activities for older toddlers. The staff are really friendly with children and again there was no shortage of highchairs and the one I visited had baby changing facilities. The food tends to be burgers, salads with other options including lasagne, stirfry and steak and chips.

Other chain restaurants which are particularly child friendly include:

Pizza Express
Most restaurant have baby changing facilities and highchairs and this chain is well know for being child friendly.

Bella Italia
This is a restaurant which warmly welcomes children at all times and has baby changing facilities and highchairs. They do a children’s menu for under £5.

There is also the
Rainforest Cafe
in Central London. I haven’t been there yet but next time I’m in the area I’m sure to go as it sounds great. You eat surrounded by the sight and sounds of the rainforest jungle. There are animated elephants and gorillas. There are also tropical fish to look at as well as parrotts. Children also get an activity pack to entertain them during the meal. There is a kids menu. When I go I’ll update this post about highchairs, food and baby changing but in the meantime check out their website.
